A FISH STORY
For more than thirty years, Doc Stohler has been schoolin' the boys down around the bays of Port Isabel and Port Mansfield in the fine points of catching fish. Some of those boys were his own and after years of schoolin', Bill Stohler and his wife Debbie have put some of that knowledge to use in Marble Falls.
Bill has spent years watching Doc ("Dad" to Bill) work the bays for treasures: blue crab, fresh jumbo shrimp, oysters, and fresh fish to take home to Twana (Mom). Doc's fish stories do not hold a candle to Twana's fabulous cooking, though; and Bill was fortunate enough to have Twana's schooling as well as Doc's. It is her kitchen secrets that Bill & Debbie now use to the delight of customers near and far who visit
"Doc's Fish Camp & Grill."
Twana has the knack for combining just the right spices and using just the right amount of breading to bring out the flavor of fresh seafood instead of hiding it. Stories have been told of Twana cleaning and grilling the catch of the day before Doc had the chance to take the hook out (this is Bill's recollection and you have to remember, he learned to tell stories from Doc.)
I guess naming this restaurant "Twana's" would have been more appropriate, but Doc insists that if he hadn't caught it in the first place, she wouldn't have had the opportunity to cook it. That's right, the opportunity. Men do have a funny way of looking at things. We believe that once you have experienced this fresh from the water fare at
Doc's Fish Camp & Grill, you'll be thanking
Doc and Twana for having five children that needed to be fed.
